george Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 SAS starts Swedish link BANGKOK: -- Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Phornsiri Manoharn has applauded a decision by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to launch three flights each week between Stockholm and Bangkok. The governor will be among the officials welcoming the 280 passengers expected to arrive on the inaugural flight. She said this would go a long way towards boosting arrivals from Scandinavia, the fourth-largest source of visitor arrivals from Europe. The inaugural flight is due to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport today. Phornsiri said Swedish travellers get visa-free entry to Thailand. From January to August this year, arrivals from Sweden at Suvarnabhumi were up by 19.68 per cent to 131,651. Total international arrivals recorded at the airport in that period were 6.68 million, up 2.96 per cent over the same period of 2006. Thai Airways International operates a daily scheduled service between Stockholm and Bangkok. The Stockholm-Bangkok route will complement SAS' existing Copenhagen-Bangkok route. It will be served with an Airbus A340-300, offering passengers a choice of three service classes: business, economy extra and economy. SAS played a historic role in the development of Thai aviation. In 1960, the airline held a 30-per-cent share in the establishment of Thai Airways. -- The Nation 2007-11-01
jonniebkk Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 One of the worst flights I ever took was a BUSINESS class flight on SAS from Bangkok to Singapore return. Wouldn't want to imagine what economy is like. Very poor food and service...seems to me a little too much equality in the Swedish mentality...seemed like I was there to serve the air hostesses and not the other way around. Dirty plane also. Would never fly SAS again!
wileycoyote Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Will they still continue their services Copenhagen-Bangkok ? Wiley Coyote
torrenova Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 What old bangers are they using on this route ? Don't they buy any new planes ?
cdnvic Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 What old bangers are they using on this route ?Don't they buy any new planes ? Their oldest widebody aircraft is six years old. You're on the internet...look it up before spouting off. You look less foolish that way.
torrenova Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Wasn't just talking about wide body stuff though !
cdnvic Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Wasn't just talking about wide body stuff though ! Well they're hardly going to fly a Fokker 50 to Bangkok are they?
