Emxily
I work as a teacher here in Bangkok, and I am British. My husaband has a non O as a dependant, he and his mother are from New Zealand. My mother in law (nearly 60 years old) would like to come and live here with us because she is getting old and needs us. Can she get any kind of visa through me? the fact that i work here? Or if not, what would anyone suggest? She does not have alot of money so cannot do the retirement visa. Can we promise our income as her support? She has lived in Thailand before for some time too. Any thoughts or knowledge appreciated - Thanks Edited November 5, 2007 by Emxily
lopburi3
The closest clause would be that your husband now uses - but the wording does not include "in-law" and does not include itself as a permitted status (7.19) so you would have to check with Immigration for there ruling (if husbands mother could use). Failing that the best choice would be a multi entry non immigrant O visa which allows visits of 90 days for a one year period so border runs would be required with that. 7.19 In case of being the member of family of the foreigner who is permitted to stay temporarily in the Kingdom pursuant to the Criterion No. 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.9, 7.11, 7.12, 7.13, 7.14, 7.15, 7.16, 7.20, 7.21, 7.25 or 7.28 of this Order (Only for Father, mother, marriage couple, ordinary child, adopted child or a child of the marriage couple) Each time of permission shall be granted for a period not exceeding 1 year. dr_Pat_Pong
Without the income/savings required she can only hope for a one year multiple entry Non-Immigrant O visa and border hop every 90 days. She is unlikely to get such a visa from either of the two Thai offices in NZ. Oz might be a chance, but not Sydney.
