Permanent Residence 2006 Intake

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I applied for PR in Dec 2006. Today the lawyer handling my case informed me that I have passed all the preliminary stages and that my file (presumable with all others) has been passed on to the Under-Secretary to the Interior Minister. He also mentioned that it will almost certainly not proceed any further until after the planned elections & a new government is in place.

From what I have read on this forum of others experience in previous years (including the excellent Camerata's thread) it seems quite early to hear even a preliminary result.

Has anyone else from the 2006 intake heard anything similar?

Cheers,

Dork:

Would you be willing to share a few details of your application? For example, how many years had you worked with a work permit and approximately what level of annual tax were you paying the Thai government. These factors seem to affect the success of the application and, perhaps the speed of processing. Totally understand though if you don't want to publicize those personal details -- but it helps others weigh their options.

Hi TaoNow

Yes I would be willing to share some info. However so far I have only been informed verbally, third hand and I don't feel cocky enough to offer any advice yet. If & when I get a more concrete confirmation I'll happily divulge whatever maybe helpful or relevant to others.

As I mentioned in the first post, it would be somewhat reassuring to hear if there are any others from 2006 that have heard similar information.

Cheers

I applied in December 2006 also. A friend of mine was in immigration about two weeks ago, and asked on my behalf when the results would be known. The lady in Room 301 told him that the papers had all been passed on to the ministry, and that she didn't know when the results would be announced.

I was at immigration on Monday of this week, to get my next 6 month visa stamp. I asked one of the ladies in Rm. 301 when the results would be known, and her (slightly off-hand) response was "pee nah" next year. She then added, after the election.
