It was time to get another visa so i decided to switch from the B to and O. My decision was based on the info i received from everyone here at TV. It is much easier to get. I supplied them with marriage cerficate, children's birth certificate, and bank book.

No problem. Received a 1 year multiple entry O visa just like i asked for.

I used Parvez Bookstore and their fee was only 20 rm. I asked around and the fees ranged from 20 rm being the least expensive to 130 rm being the most expensive. No sense in paying more than the 20 that Parvez charges.

I don't know if i am allowed to post their email address so i won't. If any one wants it feel free to PM me and i will give it to you.

i met some folks who had an easy time gettting the o based on marriage in penang

any experience getting an o for retirement in penang?

if so, can the funds be in ones home country or must they be in a thai bank?

that is in regards to proof of savings and not proof of pension

thanks all

Will a bank account in a country outside Thailand be ok ?.

Yeah, did you really need the bank book and the baby information.

Presumably it was based purely on marriage - no ?

I showed the bank book because Parvez said i needed too. I showed the birth certificate because they said it would make it easier to get the 1 year multiple entry.

I took all of this information on advice from this forum and from a mod on this forum's advice.

I do not know if it was mandatory but every little bit helps.

I asked as other places request a fixed amount in the book. I guess they wanted to see two names in the book...

Why would they want 2 names in the book ??

What fixed amount did they ask for ?? I only had 15,000 showing on the last page of my bank book. 75,000 was transfered to that account a few hours after i updated the book but they had no way of knowing that.

I was assuming, as the OP did not really answer the question.

Sometimes the consulates want to see marriage cert, birth cert, wife id, and a bank book with two names on it.

Simply an opinion of mine as to why he was asked for a bank book. In Singapore you must show 400k in the book, hence my question.

I am the OP and I was not asked for a bank book with 2 names on it. I can't imagine why they would care if it had 2 names on it that is why i asked. I did forget to mention that i had a copy of my wife's ID card. No 400K only 15K in my bank book.

Very strange...... :o just got back from Penang last night, 2 people on the mini-bus applied for an Multiple O, me and a UK guy, for me i was almost sure i wasn't going to get a multiple O because i didn't bring the bankbooks this, so i was happy with my single O based on the papers like marriage certificate and registration, my wife's Id...it is enough for the single O.

On the other hand the UK had everything the same as me + he had the bankbook showing more then 400K in it and applied for a multiple O also but was refused, no explanation given and no refund for his fee, this is really confusing....he should have gotten the multiple O without any problems.

So my question is, Is Penang working with different weights here or what ? Or is it the bookstore that has more influence then normal people in this case ??? :D

Your passport indicates a habitual stayer in Thailand who just got married so probably you received single entry with expectation that you will extend your stay with monthly income of 40k one you return to Thailand. Believe this is normal to issue single entry first time. Don't know about the other person but so far there has not been any report that a fixed amount of money in the back will provide a visa - only that if you have that information it may help. If he was first time expect the same reason might be at play. But then again we can not rule out a more general change until more people report there recent experience.

could be the bookstore. could be that i had my children's birth certificates with me. Could be that i have been married for over 8 years. No idea. As lopburi says we need more people to report so we have a better idea.

Hallo, I always use Banana New Guesthouse (address easily to be found by Google). Excellent service by Lily or her husband Eddy. Even offer 1 day service (bring 10 a.m. - pick-up 2 p.m.) for those in a hurry (of course at extra cost). Have all forms, speak excellent English, very helpful.

is there such thing as a muti entry non o for retirement?

is retirement a year visa and marraige anything from 90 days to one year?

or are they the same length-of-stay options for both?

what are the length-of-stay options for these 2 types of o visas?

i would like to get one year retirement but will not transfer 800,000 into thailand

so i must use the thai consulates in the USA

or can i do this in penang or another country in SE asia?

heard a rumor:

new york is no longer issuing retirement visas and one has to apply in thailand

i called the consulate and a guy said you CAN get the retirement visa

who the heck knows until you try

anyone else know anything about this?

thanks all

For O-A visa:

Applicant may submit their application at the Royal Thai embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General in their home/residence country

My case was a little different, being a non-O single entry applied for in the US for the purpose of marrying a Thai national, but when I asked for a multiple entry visa, they said they could not issue me a multiple entry as a fiancee, but could issue it after I was married.

I was also asked to show my US Bank account statement with at least $1000.
