I am allowed to bring in 1 litre of alcohol. I assume that a wine is considered the same as spirits so a bottle of dry red is the same as a bottle of vodka?

Can I bring in say three bottle of wine adding up to two litres with my wife or would the maximum be a single bottle each?

Three years ago my daughter brought in a six litre cask of dry white, a bottle of red wine and a bottle of spirits all still in the duty free bags. No questions asked....

I think you answered your own question. Don't think they are too bothered as long as you don't kick the ass out of it.
