I assume this has been covered somewhere on the forum so I apologise if it has.

I am married to a Thai lady, who has a 10 year old son from a previous relationship. He is currently living with my wife's mother in Thailand.

My wife was never married to her son’s father who has since died. (As in 6ft under). Her son has his father’s surname.

I would like to adopt my wife’s son, so that he can live with us and hopefully receive a “better life”, education etc.

There are no objections from either my wife’s family or her son’s father’s family to the adoption.

Does anyone have any pointers or advice as to what process my wife and I need to follow.

I beleive if your intention is to adopt the boy fully so that he wil be entitled to claim your home nationality too then you will need to apply from your home country & receive all the relevant checks required by them before any application in thailand will be considered. There is also I beleive a way of adopting the child from within thialand only but it will not be recognised in your home country & you will still have to apply for visas for the child for any future visits overseas.

Do a search ont he forum as it does bring up quite a lot of threads that already cover this, particulary in the family sections;
