"marriage " Visa

Featured Replies

I am a UK national with a house in both the UK & Thailand. I want to spend about 6 months a year in both countries.

I am recently married to a Thai & she will be with me in both countries. She has just been granted the 2 year UK visa.

What is my best long term option to minimize visa hassles for myself in Thailand ?

Thanks

Multi entry non immigrant O visa will allow up to 90 day stay at a time and a trip out/return another on each entry.

Does this mean there is no alternative but having to do a visa run after 3 months??

With the Non Imm visa once in Thailand you could apply for a 1 year extension (which would obviate the need for that visa run) but you would need to show a family income in Thailand of B40,000 pm if you apply on the basis of being married to a Thai and when you leave for UK you would have to request and pay for a re-entry permit to maintain it's validity while you were away. You would have to return before it expired and you would still have to reapply for the extension every year.

It's a lot easier to do that 1 visa run.
