Proxy Server

My friend has one in the US for business reasons. Handy for accessing some blocked sites (youtube etc a few months ago). When connected he can receive mail from his server, but cannot send via smtp. I am not a techie by any stretch, but this is my experience, and at $15 pm I thought it was quite good. He still uses it now when connection here is on the blink. Pm me if you want the details.

Edited to add: just re-read you OP, this was a vpn not proxy - is that the same?

sniffdog: I don't want to see porn sites, just I want to get my business email, they are so borning that noone want to block them :-)

You would need a proxy which talks POP or IMAP or whatever protocol you use to access your mails. Most proxies are for HTTP only.

Even if you found a pop3 or imap proxy, i would be extremely wary of it. Unless you have a reason to trust them, you shouldn't be routing your mail through them. I'm amazed how many people are willing to route their web traffic through a proxy without knowing anything about it.

I would first see if you can access the mail on secure server ports which are less likely to be blocked. Assuming this is your own domain, your host should be able to assist with this.

If you can't get that working, i would use CobraSnakeNecktie's idea and route mail through gmail or another a similar provider.

starting in afternoon I can't get my emails anymore because time outs on buddy.

I can reach the same server over web.

Is it possible to get my emails over a proxy server connection?

Maybe an easier solution if it's only for your business mail : is there any free email service you can easily reach in Thailand (like yahoo mail, hotmail etc... ) ? If yes, you can forward your emails to one of these.
