I'm about to extend my Non Imm type O at Suan Phlu. I heard rumour that a map showing residence location is now required, can anyone advise on this.

Thanks

I recently renewed my 1 year marriage visa and yes they required a map of where you live.

I did a simple map in “Paint” just line drawing then wifie named a few buildings and roads.

I think the idea is so they can come and check what you are up to, so up to you how much detail you want to put on your map.

If you are for the marriage visa they also want about 6 photos of you and “happy family” round the house.

D.D.

This was in Bangkok that you were required to provide a map? In any case believe it is only a sketch type drawing like you provide a retailer for delivery of items when it is asked for.

Yes, a map is now required. If you go to GOOGLE maps and find your location using the MAP function...that will work. The roads and sois are in Thai.

If you are extending an "O" visa, (not a marriage visa), you DO NOT need a map. If you are extending a marriage visa, then there is a possibility that you MIGHT need a map, and photos.

What you DO need, to extend a non imm type "O" visa, is a photo, a letter from your Thai bank, copies of the pages of your bankbook, your passport and copies of the pertinent pages of your passport, a completed form TM-7, and 800,000 baht in the Thai bank for at least three months before your application for extension, or 65,000 baht a month income, and a letter from the Embassy to confirm it.....or.....a combination of the two, (monthly income times twelve, plus bank account, to equal annual 800,000 baht).

My monthly income is from Social Security and pensions from past employment, and, although they have never asked me to prove it, I can if need be. Hope this helps.....good luck, ErnieK

Actually it causes confusion :o

You are referring to extension of a type O-A (retirement visa), a type O (on the grounds or marriage) is what I believe our OP is referring to :D

Not always an O-A visa, I came to Thailand on a single entry non immigrant 'O' and after just before 90 days was up went to Suan Plu and came away with one year retirement extension to 'O' visa.

Had a letter from British consulate to verify my UK pension, and the statement from my Bangkok bank.

No medical certificate required, just the application form/photo's and many photo copies of passport pages etc. No mention of map May this year, but for next year will just draw a simple map of town and Soi where I rent a house just in case.

The immigration officer kindly went through the 90 day report procedure as it would be my first one too, so they can be very helpful on occaisons.
