Married + Work = Visa?

Featured Replies

hello

the current visa situation makes me really confused, therefore i ask for advice:

i am from europe, married with a lovely thai women, no children, in a few years 50 years old!

like to move officially to thailand next year. i will continue to work for my company in

europe, via computer- internet. my work has nothing to do with thailand, my salary will be transferred

to my bank account in europe!

what kind of visa should i apply in my home country and what do i have to do in thailand that

everything is legal and that i do not have visa problems?

thanks a lot

khun sapsong

I would suggest you contact a legal firm such as Sunbelt to go through the options with you as to be fully legal really requires having a work permit and that is problematic without legal help. As for the visa that will depend on if you can meet the 40k monthly income requirements for extension of stay - we will assume you can not at first so a multi entry non immigrant O visa would be your best visa (to visit wife) but requires you exit country every 90 days and is becoming rather hard to obtain in some countries. A single entry is normally not hard to obtain and provides 3 months to get paperwork in order to permit extension of stay for "family" reasons. If you set up a company structure you may prefer a non immigrant B visa where extension requirements would be more business based. You really need to Google and read in the forum extensively or contact legal help to fit your needs. Sorry but there really is no easy answer that fits all.

If you are working in Thailand, and the definition is very broad, you need a work permit to be 100% legal.
