Moving To Thailand Next Fall To Do My Mba

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I´m planning to attend Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) next fall to do my MBA. My thai wife and our two kids (8 & 5) are joining me, and we are all looking forward to the experience. Do anyone here at Thaivisa have any experience with AIT (speeking in terms of quality comparing it to other management schools in Europe/Asia/USA) and/or AIT Community School?

Have you looked in any of the standard listings ie The Economist and the Financial Timnes for example

Those above are usually worldwide and there are Asia rankings too - I think one in HK comes out top in those followed by Nanyang in Singapore if the adverts are anything to go by.

Thailand has a few programmes that I have hear of such as Sasin at Chula, Thammasat and AIT.

My colleague who is considering one will only look at Chula though withing Thailand for name purposes - she is Thai but with a North American education and first degree

Thailand does not attract the foreign Uni's in the same number and quality a Hong Kong or Singapore does - it just does not have the demand. I know of plenty of ranked MBA's from the USA, UK and Europe in Singapore - what is available in Thailand?

I am taking mine in Singapore from a British Uni - they fly the lecturers out and the modules are the same as those studying in the UK - its half the prioce though due to the competition here in Singapore and the average wages being lower than the UK for most students. If my company and others from what I have heard companies here tend not to fund the whole MBA - local practice.

Back in the UK most students are company sponsored (well on the one I began before moving oversea's) but in Singapore they tend not to be and as an example my company pays about 1/3 where in the UK or USa they pay the whole amount - local practice.

You have a Thai wife though so there are obvious reasons to choose Thailand for the course - good luck - its a lot of work but interesting and fun

Thank you for your response. It has to be a MBA in Thailand (because of my wife and our children), and it can´t be at Sasin. I´m finishing a big SAP implementation at the Norwegian Armed Forces in June 2008, and at Sasin they start their 08-MBA allready in May. Anyone else have an opinion?
