Rode a buss yesterday, full-day trip, and he busdriver passed other large vehicles and buses as well as car at high speed, while he same was happening in oncoming traffic. And everyone used their horn to say that others should move...one of those times when you just close your eyes and hope you arrive in good health...

Perhaps it would help if these "school convoys" did NOT have a police escort,

encouraging high speeds with disregard for other road users........... :o

Perhaps I missed something, but I don't see where it says that the bus had a police escort. Are you talking about other incidents where a police escort was somehow involved?

Buses do not "lose control". The driver loses control of the bus due to, but not limited to:

Brakes - poor maintenance, going too fast - poor driver, not in low gear - poor driver, etc.

Passengers here also lose control over their destiny the moment they climb those three bus steps.
