Im thinking about a homestay in Srisakhet which, I understand, is near the Cambodian border. Anyone familiar with this area? What is it like?

Thanks all

Went there years ago. It's a very 'poor' area - the average income is very low. There is a train and bus station in town and a choice of hotels and night markets - good for food. Not much else.

If the border is open definately take the opp to go to Khao Phra Viharn, it's stunning up there at the top looking over Cambodia. Travel in a buch of other people, not alone

EricZ, you may get more replies if you ask in the Issan forum. There are a few active members from Sisaket and surrounding areas. Look at the top of the Issan page for the pinned maps topic. Nongfrank has posted a good street map of the city which shows the hotels.

Thanks so much.
