I thought that the chiang rai forum would be the best place to post the above, as i'm sure that lots of you shop up there.

I'm looking for a smallish space heater to take the edge off these chilly nights and mornings and i'm sure that the chineese make them, and if they are available, then mae sai will have them somewhere. if confirmed and directions to shop, then i'll make a trip up from CM.

I looked at several places but unfortunately...nothing....but...one Thai told me he had several....bought in....Italy....crazy...must be somewhere here!

This morning I was in Mae Sai...but I didn't notice terrace heaters....

May be in Bangkok, althougt they don't need terrace heaters overthere.

I bought an electric one in CR last year. It was just in one of the large electrical/furniture shops.

Even on the lowest setting it warms a 50 square meter room quite quickly.

The winter bill actually drops by 300B a month compared with summer with the fans running 24/7.

I just did the math on the power consumption on our small electric heater [1500 whatt] and it comes out to 6+bhatt/hr......not a lot, but lpg is much cheaper, even with the recent price hike. would like to have a couple of more heaters in the house, but want lpg, not elect.

I saw two LPG space heaters at the Doi Chang Coffee shop beside their processing facility at Doi Chang. Looked like a lamp but instead of lighting the space the heating element warms up a perforated cylinder under a hood.

Looks very neat. Just wouldn't like to use it in closed spaces lest you want to risk getting monoxide poisoning.

The heaters of Doi Chaang come from Milano (Italy). That's a long drive for a heater...

Just put on a layer or two more clothes. Far healthier and cheaper!

Try Sintanee electronics on the superhwy just north of BigC; maybe BigC has one.

I got mine (electric, small, useful when near it but the houses tend not to hold much heat...)

And by the way....we get (more or less) used to this temperature....or it seems to be

Of course not! Electrical was a possibility....

But.....the weather is okay now....so we decided not to invest in this kind of equipment and wait for the summer to come

Your decisions *seemed* to be cost based. If that is the case, how much will installing a flue add and how long will you have to save $$ on gas to offset the cost of the flue installation? Add to that you lose portability.

Also, a heater is not something that you might use every day like a hot water heater.

You may feel safe trusting you life to cheap sensors ... but, up to you.

I am afraid you're right. But....what is the change that the temperature will be below 10C? Not to big I hope...
