Cosy And Snug

Featured Replies

Is there any Thai translations for these words?

I'd define cosy as comfortable and warm(in Scotland) but maybe in Thailand it would be comfortable and cool??

There's อบอุ่น that is really more about interpersonal warmth, but I believe it can cover some of the instances one'd use 'cosy' as well.

Another one that works for some instances is สบาย or สบายๆ.

I looked up "อบอุ่น" in "คลังคำ", the closest Thai has to a Thesaurus, and found only one entry.

Here is what it says, "อบอุ่น อบอุ่นใจ ปราศจากความว้าเหว่ เช่น ลูกๆ รู้สึกอบอุนที่พ่อแม่อยู่กันพร้มหน้า"

ว้าเหว่ [V] feel lonely; feel lonesome; be forlorn; be friendless [Lexitron]

"warmth, cosiness: the absence of loneliness, for example, children feel warm all over when their parents are with them."

The Royal Institute Dictionary, however, does have a synonym and it is the one that Meadish indicated: อุ่นสบาย

" อบอุ่น ว. อุ่นสบาย; โดยปริยายหมายความว่า ปราศจากความว้าเหว่."
