Shopping For Household Items. Most Frustrating Experience

Recommended Posts

sometimes I'll get a bug up my butt and decide I want or need a household item, either for comfort, convenience or entertanment.

Wll first try searching the local appropriate stores, or will then try a google search for the item in Thailand. some times unsuccessful in either case. Then try ordering on-line from the West.

The interim always gives me time to think, do I really want or need the thing I'm looking for.

For example the latest quest has been for double hung, double glazed vinyl clad house replacement windows. This quest has been on going for a little less than 2 years. I'm peristent and hope to find a Thai distributor for these kind of windows. Anything less exotic as this I will usually order on-line and have it shipped to myself.

Anyway to get to the meat of the matter. What's your most frustrating shopping experience been in LOS?

Doors, don't mention doors. When we were having the house built, someone recommended a door manufacturer in Ranong. So off we went, all doors were hand made. We gave our order, and they gave us a delivery date. We are talking 4 doors. 3 normal and a pair of sliding doors for the front of the house. Oh and a wooden surround for the front door(s). The delivery date came and went, with one door delivered. In fact several delivery dates passed. I got so frustrated that just before the last delivery I told the owner, that in a Farang country she would be out of business, because people would soon learn you can't keep a delivery date. I refrained from saying promise. She just looked at me as though I had lost the plot. When we went to settle the final bill. She actually had the gall to say "I hope you tell your friends about us". I promised her I would. I certainly don't want my friends to go through that. :o
