Retire Visa

Featured Replies

My wife 57 , I am 63 , my wife Belgian and I Dutch living in The Netherlands, will emigrate to Thailand in 2008 on retiremend visa.We both fullfill the requirements of bank savings in Thailand bank of 800.000 BTH. for me ( at presnt day ) , and an income ( retiremend pension income ) of 65.000 BTH / month for my wife.

We have the intention to stay in the neighbourhoud of Uttaradit.

Question : What is the best way to start the procedure :

1 do all the required paperwork at the Thailand ambassy in Holland

2 Fly to Thailand on short stay-tourist -visa ?????? and do all the paperwork in Thailand ( Chiang Mai, or..........)

It has nothing to do for cheap - cheap , but the CORRECT and proper way to do things.

PLEASE advice

I would do in your home country as you seem to have time. If you can obtain the multi entry type of O-A visa (not all Embassies provide) it will cover almost 2 years before you have to start doing extensions of stay in Thailand. If single entry you will get one year permitted to stay stamp on entry and require re-entry permit for any travel - so the multi entry is well worth the slight extra cost for most people.

But that said; either way is proper and correct.
