Hello All,

I just have question for my english husband. We were married for 1 year and my husband want to move to stay at thailand with me. I am so glad but how he can find a job here? My husband is 26 yrs old and high school graduate but he got only certificate about motorbike repairing. I don't think he can work at thailand. I'm worry about how he can live here, I mean thailand is totally different from UK and stuff. Do they have English community at Thailand? I want him to hang out with some english friends cuz he will stay alone when I go to work everyday. I told him to do like volunteer or charity work from church but I dont know anything about this here. Any idea guys, please give me all u got for me. I really need some advice tho. Thanks alot.

He needs a work permit to work.

But more importantly, he needs to find a job first; the work permit is arranged by the company that hires him.

Note that also for voluntary work he would legally need work permit.

If there's a religious angle then there's special visas for missionary work as well.

Yes there's an English community in Thailand. Avoiding it is a lot harder than finding it. :o

Heh... well just in case this is for real. Tell your husband to get an english teaching certification in england before moving here. Like Toefl, thats gotta be better than a motorbike repair certificate. He wont make alot of money but he can live. Dont worry about him making other english friends..... there are lots of english men here.

I guess your life has changed because in February you said you did not have a regular job because you made such good money on the internet:

I don't have a regular job overhere because I sell some stuff on ebay, ioffer, yahoo auction and it is make good money for me to live here.

There is another way to get a work permit and a yearly visa, it is to marry your boyfriend and set up your own company "Could be a motorbike repair shop."

He would have to start paying tax straightaway, regardless that he is earning any wage.

:o " It worked out for me" :D

Moved to the Thai Visa and Work Permit section.

But I didn't realize the UK had high schools :o

We call them secondary schools in the main

You do not get a High School certificate as in the American sense

You would do "O" (ordinary) levels at 16 for the majority and "A" (Advanced) at 18 again for the majority of those who stayed on

There are other things like "As" levels or whatever but they are newerand I do not know much about them

Of course we have high schools, we just don't call them that. :D

Secondary School is the more usual term and the cater for 11-18 year olds,

no need to change school half way through.
