The Thai Consulate in LA in the Hancock Park area, which is not far from Hollywood. Six flags is maybe 30 minute freeway drive north, while Disneyland is maybe 45 min freeway drive south.

It's an OK place to go for tourist visa as American citizen, but it's not good for other kinds of visas, depending on what you need.

The cost is 1000THB for a single entry TR visa set by the MFA. In Australia it is 45AUD. The FX rate in Aug 2003 when it was increased was about 22THB to the AUD. It is now about 28. The MFA hedges against currency movements. Strictly speaking foreign currency fee should be reassesed on a regular basis.
