Some Questions At The Borders To Laos

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm going to go to Laos this weekend to get my 2nd 30 days stamp on arrival (i'm canadian, used 1 tourist visa 60+30 days and 1 x 30 days SOA already) and as you can guess I was forgetting to make sure my visa would not issue in weekend (on 16th right now) and I just realised it ....... few minutes ago ........ :o

I just wondering, is it possible to go to the borders, cross the thai border, take the bus to the Laos border, and take the bus straight back to the Thai border and get my 30 days stamp without actually going through Laos borders ? Hence saving a 1500 bahts fee ?

Just to make sure, any of you see any problem in sight about getting my 30 days SOA ? I used 1 SOA last year about the same time and 1 last month after my expiration date / explication problems. (see my other posts to understand) and next time will go for a tourist visa.

Thanks for all

No that doesn't sound kosher. You gotta get stamped into Laos at the very least me thinks

As you know, Laos has a sliding scale for visa on arrival fees and for whatever

reason Canadian nationals pay the absolute highest, I think 1,700 baht. The

visa on arrival stamp takes up a full page and the other 4 entry/exit stamps

from the two countries can take up nearly another page depending on how

sloppy they are. Don't know where exactly you're located but the Myanmar

border at 500 baht is looking to be an exceptional bargain nowadays. :o

Being the nosy basta_d I am, looking at your other post, you entered on your

first visa exempt entry NOV 18th. This is the start of your 6 month period. You

should be able to get two more this way or head to the embassy/consulate

and make the attempt for a tourist visa. That's my best guess anyway. :D

You can not return to Thailand without being stamped in/out of the other country on a land crossing.

Does everyone have to pay for entry into Lao, my friend is Japanese and he went last week and did not pay, only paid the 1000 Baht for 60 day Thai Tourst Visa at the Thai Consulate or whatever.

Thanks

Those asean countries have some sort of special agreement but Japan is not part of

that group as I understand. http://www.bkklaoembassy.com/ from the fee schedule

on the website it's 1,000 baht. Maybe there's been a change. Yes, Kookainarak, as

Lopburi3 has stated, you need stamps from both sides to avoid bad juju, mojo stuff. :o
