August 30, 200421 yr hello, When my french son ( 11 years), come to visit me in thailand, I ask in the re-entry office in the airport, how long can stay my son with the 30 days arrival visa, without pay a fine if he overstay the 30 days. They answer me : No limit, until he has 14 years old! I was surprised because I read this( below) in the thaivisa .com "The maximum overstay fine in Thailand is 20,000 baht (approx US$450). Foreign children are subject to fines for overstaying in Thailand only when over the age of seven." I ask another day and get the some answer! ( I decided to trust the officer) So I was a little anxious the day of departure because my son overstay more then 100 days!! But no problem He could go out without problem with the hostess for UM( unaccompanied Minor) that send him to the plane. Were we lucky? I like to know for his next stay if I need to be anxious?? If the age of 14 is the right one, why did the thai embassy in Paris deliver tourist visas( 2 months) for children under 14? Even under 7 years, like for my son the fisrt time He came to visit me? Thanks for your answers and sorry for my bad english!
August 30, 200421 yr I like to know for his next stay if I need to be anxious?? no If the age of 14 is the right one, why did the thai embassy in Paris deliver tourist visas( 2 months) for children under 14? except for a few circumstances, every foreigner needs a visa to enter or be a citizen of the list of countries that thailand allows 15/30/90 day entries.
