Frenchman dies in mystery fall

A Frenchman died at Patong Hospital in the early hours of this morning after falling off a bar stool and banging his head early last night.

Kathu Police Superintendent Pol Col Grissak Songmoonnark identified the deceased as Gros Laurent, who had been drinking happily with friends at Tiger Entertainment Complex on Soi Bangla. After consuming two beers at the venue, Mr Laurent, 40, passed out and fell off the chair he was sitting on.

The fall caused him to banging his head on the floor, said Col Grissak.

Kathu Police received word of the accident at about 8:10 pm, he said.

A number of of Mr Laurent’s friends took him to Patong Hospital, where he died at 1:40 am, he added. Col Grissak was unable to reveal any details of the exact cause of death, the reason why Mr Laurent fainted or how many friends he was with at time of the incident.

“We are awaiting an autopsy report from the hospital to confirm why Mr Laurent died,” said Col Grissak.
