Refused Extention In Phuket?

Featured Replies

After a series of visits to Immigration in Patong and Phuket town, I'm as baffled as ever.

My 90 days are approaching quickly. My air ticket out is mid-January. I need 23 more days extension.

Was told emphatically today that a Non-B can only extend 7 days. I was under the impression that a Non-Immigrant visa extension of stay was for 30 days. Did I get this wrong.

My tongue is bleeding from biting it in the office. I so wanted to let them know how I felt.

I would like to hear from the pros. Can I get 30 days more by going to BKK Immigration?

thanks in advance

You were under the wrong impression. Even the 7 days you got were a special favour of the immigration officer.

Without the correct paperwork for an extension of stay under any of the rules of Royal Thai Police order 606/2549 (2006) one cannot normally get an extension of stay on a non-immigrant visa of any category.

I didn't get any extension. They offered me 7 days.

I still have enough time to leave and re-enter.

Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks also for the link. :o

Generally, Non-Imm visas can be extended 30 days. Every situation is unique and of course the discretion is with the officer but it is generally a pro-forma approval. However, the past year or so, things have become "wierd" down in Phuket. It may help to come to Bangkok or Pattaya. Otherwise, just leave and do your visa run. TIT

Are you talking from personal experience? It does not say anything like that in the official rules, nor have I seen any post to that effect in this forum.

Tourist visas can normally be extended for 30 days - not non immigrant visas.
