Buy House In Sweden

Featured Replies

Hello everybody.

I think to buy a house in Sweden. A friend of mine told me that it is possible to stay 1 year in house with a 10% deposit of total amount and, if house is all ok, pay the remaining 90%. It is true?? Can anybody explain me the real rules to buy a house in Sweden?? thank you. Jana

Interesting first post on a Thailand oriented website :o

Sorry can't help on the house front, we do have a couple of Swedish members though :D

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Agree with the other post that this is not related to Thailand.

But I believe what you describe can not be.

Who in their right mind will let someone move in for a year, then hope to get the remaining 90% of the value a year later?

So if you decide that the house is not ok, will you then get your deposit back? have the owner then just rented out his house for a year instead of getting it sold?

Think about it.

Sure you can stay one year in a house if you rent it. But a house is not bought and the purchase registered until you have paid 100% as all financing in Sweden are through banks or similar institutions.

Sure you can buy a house if you are a citizen from the European Union. But don’t expect banks are willing to give you a loan unless you can prove your ability to pay back is good. The amount the bank is willing to lend to you also depends on the estimated value of the property – estimated by the bank.

Actually I live in Thailand....so I think: "if is possible to ask -from Sweden-how buy house in Thailand so also the opposite question -from Thailand to Sweden-is ok....."

I ask in "general topics" after see post like "Want to send a funny xmas email" or "British Fco, what does it stand for" or "an incovenient truth, global warming....." etc etc...where is the Thailand "related"???

TRAVEL 2003: of course :o , after 1 year, if I decide that house is not ok I loose the 10% deposit.......

TOMINCHAAM: I do not ask for a loan.... I do not need bank at all.....I only want to know the normal rules to buy (cash) a house in Sweden.......

thanks all....

Yana,

I think you will find that to buy a house in Sweden is very similar to buying a house anywhere.

Agree the price, and pay. Get the deal registred with the land office, notary or whatever it is called in the country of your choice. Simple and straight forward.

If you talk about some special deals, then you have to be more specific.
