Non-immgrant O And Tourist Visa Questions

Featured Replies

I'll be doing a 6-month volunteer work in Thailand. Prior to that, I'll travel in Thailand and Laos. And I also plan to travel within Thailand after.

My Questions are:

- Is the non-immigrant O visa with multiple entries my best bet?

- If so, should I get it at home (in Canada) or in Hong Kong or Vientienne? I'll spend a few weeks in Hong Kong beforehand. It seems much cheaper to get it in Hong Kong. But I've read about visa rejections in Hong Kong in the past from the forum.

- What about getting it in Vientienne? How long does it take roughly?

With a letter from the place you will be volunteering you can apply for a multi entry Non Imm O which will give you unlimited entries for 12 months. Get it in Canada from a Thai consulate near you to avoid the whims of the consulates in Thailand's neighbouring countries.

and don't forget getting that Work Permit from the Labour Ministry after you've arrived here. :o

thanks! One more question, I know that I'll need to exit and reenter Thailand every 90 days. Since I'll be off to Laos for a month after first spending about a week in Thailand, when I return to Thailand from Laos, do I get my 2nd 90-day stamp at that point, or do I still have to wait just before the 90 days? I'm just a bit confused of the procedure.

You will get a new 90 day stamp each time you re-enter.
