Visa Overstay - For A Few Days

Featured Replies

My tourist visa ran out yesterday 28 Dec and i was unable to get a stand by seat on the flight back to the uk from bkk yesterday.

The flights are full until the 18 jan but they said if i get there early enough i should get a flight back on 4 jan.

My flight is a 6 month open ticket but i am looking to go back ASAP, but cant show a definite date.

What is the best way to get this resolved.

a. Go to immigration Monday and get a 10 day extension, willi be able to as i will be 3 days over.

b. Pay the overstay fine, is it 500 or 200 baht a day from BKK airport? will i get black marks in my passport?

c. Go and do a border run, will i get fined at the border?

d. If anyone has any ideas to avoid upsetting the authorities please let me know.

a. Monday and Tuesday are official holidays.

b. Fine is 500 baht per day and your passport will be stamped as overstay.

c. You are overstay now and too late to make border today so you will have two days overstay and be fined - but you also chance being picked up by police and sent to court.

d. Visit Immigration first thing Wednesday and apply for a 7 day extension of stay explaining you were unable to get flight and immigration was closed. Have ticket with you. Second option would be 'b' but be careful not to be questioned by police before leaving. Don't try to make a border run now that you are overstay.
