Retirement Age

Featured Replies

someone told me that although the retirement age here is 50 you can actually qualify on your 49th birthday because of the way thais count years, is this true ?

sorry if this seems a stupid question but the person was quite confident it was correct.

Sorry, but mandatory retirement age in Thailand is 60, at least for government and universities. Private enterprises may have no such limitation.

False. You qualify after you are over age 50 from birth and in most cases that means they will not accept an application until the day after your 50th birthday.

This is a visa forum - must assume he is talking about visa/extension of stay requirements.

Then you are referring to early retirement options which are dependent upon the institution as to what is allowed. 60 is "mandatory" retirement age that I'm 100% certain of.

//edit - oops, didn't notice the forum it was in - my apologies to all. :o Note to self - check the forums you are in. :D

So he was talking <deleted>, which is what I thought myself
