Got a text from the U.K. today with some news.....

Hello from Keisha Danielle. I was born on Jan 3rd 2008 at 12:23 a.m. on a cold snowy morning. I weighed in at 8lb 9oz. My parents send their love and are both well.

?? Grandfather ??

Now I do not know whether to feel old and past it or not :D

I certainly will feel that way tomorrow after wetting the babies head tonight!!

Get the vodka out it's :o

I guess congratulations are in order, although I don't know how much of the work you did!

Best to ya'.

First thing I did when my daughter got a kid, was to tell her that when the kid grows up, she will call me Uncle, not Grandfather.

Sheesh..

And as for Scott, as for 'how much of the work he did'... Well, let me tell you: LOADS!!!! Raising a son or daughter to the point where they're good parents themselves.. I could scarcely think of a bigger load of work!

( And I could also scarcely think of a title that I'd embrace with more honour and pride than 'grandfather'. Assuming I live long enough that is. :o )

So: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!, gramps. :D

I became a grandpa last month, not an honor I was looking for as its taken me 10 years to get it into my head I was a step dad.

The hardest part was the naming of the baby boy. They wanted me to give the child a name. Arrrrgg I racked my enbrittled brain, and came up with the inane idea of giving it my name. Wife laughed and said its not the Thai way of doing things, too confusing. Now being a III rd myself I didn't see the problem, but continued my quest. I did finally decide on Gregory, but objections from my wife said it was too hard for Thai people to pronoune. I shortened it to Greg and found it acceptable. Now laying around his crib in Chiang Mai is little Greg waiting for Grandparents to show up next month and bestow all manners of gifts upon him. Wish I was that lucky growing up. :o

I ran into a very proud elderly gent one day as he was looking after the lil one. I commented he had a nice lil grand child. He stared back at me and gruffly said he was the father, not the grand dad. Very embarrassing to say the least. :o

Mmm you have to be so careful these days! :D I made a similar mistake when helping out at a Kindergarten here! After the first time :D , I learned to zip it and ask more questions like how old, is the lil 'un, how does he/she sleep etc, is she/he a good eater etc? Then you can "feel" your way around indirectly to ascertain if said guy is the "pops" or the "gramps" ! :D

The Perils of living in Thailand! :D .

Congrats to the OP!

I have just visited my Grandson, believe me it was strange, just six months after being a dad for the first time, I was a Granddad!!!

Good Luck
