Back To Thailand

Dear Forum Members, I need HELP!!! I lived happily in Thailand for over four years.

After my wife gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, life was perfect.. I was leasing a Condo on the beach, driving a new Toyota and golfing twice a week. I had money in the bank and saving more each month. Then, I had this great idea. Why not move back to the good old US of A.... The schools are free, I qualify for VA health care and New Mexico has great weather.

Lets get those forms moving and get this show on the road. A permanent resident visa and

SS # for the wife, piece of cake. Wrong! After a ton of paper work and trips back and forth to Bangkok for health certificates, police background check, Homeland security interview, Visa Dept interview and on and on and on..... Three months later, were on a one way, 17 hour coach flight and lap child in tow.

Now, skip ahead four months to my present day situation. It's January 3, 2008.

Housing is very expensive, You have to buy your own furniture, and there is no ocean view.

I have no recent credit because I’ve been out of country. Therefore, I cannot get credit.

I am driving a new car, after making a $5000.00 DP. My bank financed the balance at 15% APR. I’ve been in good standing with this bank for over a decade, with one checking, two savings and a Visa credit card. The reason for the high % rate was because, I don’t have any recent credit.?

Only the bad schools are free.

The VA Health care system is under funded, under staffed and over booked. It’s broken and getting worse every day. So much for that promise.

The NM weather sucks. It’s colder than NY in the winter and the summers are so hot and dry, your nose bleeds.

I haven’t played golf since leaving Thailand.

My Wife wants to go home and I want my life back.

I hope anyone with the same bright idea I had will benefit from the above ranting.

OK, now for my question.--- We are planning on returning to Thailand the last week of March 2008. I have a type O Retirement Visa that expires May 8, 2008. I did not get a re- entry stamp when I left Thailand. Will I have to purchase a roundtrip airline ticket and go through the Retirement Visa process all over again? I have my income certification. Is it possible to re-enter and simply pay a fine, if so, how much?

You will have to start all over again.

Get a O-A Visa in USA or get a Non Imm O Visa and extend it in Thailand using your income verification.

You can have a one way ticket if you have a Visa.

Yes, afraid you need to start over.

Anyway, as you've done it before then you know it's a fairly simple process

so long as you follow the basic rules.

Naka.
