There does tend to be a spate of deaths at this time of year, the marquees are all over the place..... but it does tend to be the old and infirm, caused by the sudden drop in temperature I would assume. Conversely there will probably be another batch when it suddenly heats up again.

Hope all works out well for your friends wife.

I can confirm the same in my wife's village as well, in the Kalasin area.

4-5 per week for 3-4 weeks now.

Most of them of old age, and then of course the traffic accidents which adds to already a high number.

Mr Jay I am 62 and not long for this world - I hope I have a friend like you turn up at the time

I thought Scots things improved with age. Why do you think you have so little time in left?

I got christened in Scotland and I'm only 74 so far, but I do hope it stops being cold soon; frozen icecream is better than frozen marrow.

Remember the Queen Mum got to be 100.

but she tippled gin and played the ponies. Mekong whiskey won't spark you the same and methinks the only races they got going is when the tippled Isan teens go drag racing on the mios.......

Anyways, the OP shouldn't despair at the natural death rates. At least you don't have the walking dead falangs as in Phuket. If anything, Isan living should put a spring in your step. Every old falang I meet from Isan has a smile on the face and a bit of extra bounce.

I don't suppose eating deep-fat-fried mars bars and a national dish of cholestorol was on her menu though.

yeh i agree 62 is a young age also,im 38 and from england,my german friend is 72,his wife who just died was 46...hes a top man, just like a young guy he has chang and lowkow whisky with his breakfast, all the village are rallying around to help him, hes been coming to the village for 12 years, spends 6 months at a time here, november to may,the same as myself, then he says to me he just sits in the garden and drinks everyday in berlin..lol makes me laugh,he will carry on coming and living here he tells me,he seems to be dealing with the situation very well, and i think he likes all the attention.....regards...jay
