1stbase
I am heading over to Poipet Monday from Pattaya and doing my own visa but staying in Cambodia. Not aware of any buses that go one way. Anyone interested in sharing a taxi with me early Monday morning? I figure up to 2500 baht for the taxi split 2 or 3 ways. soundman
You'll probably be closer to 3500B for the taxi fee considering it is nearly a 500km round journey. If you want to take a bus from Pattaya - take a scheduled service that passes through either Kabinburi or SraKaew & change to a bus that goes to arunyaprathet (arun). There is a regular service that leaves from Rayong to Korat that stops in Kabinburi. I think their ticket station is on Sukhumvit road inside of the Q8 petrol station, near Pattaya Glang. Cheers, Soundman.
1stbase
Well i went a month ago and only paid 2500 baht for a taxi. It's 310 km, about 3 hours. Is there a bus that goes them from central station?
threelegcowboy
The Bangkok Bus Station here in Pattaya on Nort Pattaya Rd has a bus once a day. It goes from Pattaya to Mukdahan which passes through Arnapathet(sp). Go to the station and find out what time it leaves and maybe buy a ticket a day ahead. It will be the cheapest ride in town but leave at an inconvient time. Happy Trails
cali4995
1stbase, you can always take one of those mini-buses doing the border run but only go one-way. I think the price is around 1,000 baht. Last time I went to the border we had an adventurous fellow doing that, of course he wanted to go to had lek and we were headed to ban laem so he got dropped-off somewhere on the highway outside Chantaburi city. It's often better to write the Thai script down to avoid mistakes.
threelegcowboy
Yes the visa run folks are an easy way to go. Sea, Land, Air I think still have a mini van that goes to Popiet and can take you one way. They still want the full fare. You can also arrange to have them pick you up a day or so later from that boarder. Get the drivers phone number. If you are staying in Popiet overnight then how about your room? I found the guest houses not up to my high standard and had to stay at the casino. They all are cheap if you are there to gamble. If not then look at 2X or 3X the normal rate. Can't buy the ticket ahead so will have to go there in advance tomorrow. Takes 6 hours, as opposed to 3 but I find that these bus companies always overestimate the time and it should only take 4 hours or so if traffic is good.
