In With Notebook And Handy Over Ais Gsm

Featured Replies

Since AIS promote “GSM advance”, a Data-Call to the IN-Provider is blocked (to sale expensive “GSM advance” Packages?).

Sometimes it’s useful to read E-Mails without Phone line or W-LAN connection.

If you are a Loxinfo Customer you will be lucky to use GSM with 9,6kBps over Mobile phone.

1. Install an Infrared or Bluetooth Mobilephone-Modem on your Notebook

2. Create a Dialup Connection (Name AIS-Lox e.g.)

3. User Name: yourname@loxinfo

4. Password: yourpassword

5. Dial: *99***1#

AIS charge 1 Baht/Minute.

I don’t know its legal or not, bud it works.

Dear Mr Drake,

AIS and One-2-Call offer free internet for GPRS users, and this is charged per amount of traffic (KB/sec).

For the exact settings for your telephone you can visit http://www.mobilelife.co.th/mobilelife/t/c...ernet/index.htm

With your settings it looks more that you pay two times first for CS-Loxinfo and second for AIS (or One-2-Call).

With kind regards,

Richard

5. Dial: *99***1#

where did you get that number from?

I use *99# as the number when I connect to AIS GPRS.

what other numbers are there? are they all the same price/min

the mobile life site might be helpful if the had an english page

Hi Guys,

Positive, your right, it’s the same Number as GPRS!

The last Number “1” can be everything 1 to 9.

Many Handy users don’t need GPRS and are still on GSM.

Bud sometimes it can be useful to connect the Notebook to IN by Mobilephone.

Cu Drake

The number Drake mentioned is indeed the way you connect to gprs when you have a gprs post paid package (I pay 350 Baht/month for 120 hours)

*99# is used only through a one2call package.

*99***#1 is supposedly for regular browsing (like you would do with a laptop)

*99***#2 would be for wap browsing...

When you create a gprs connection the username and password is symply not looked at, the computer bills you simply because when you connect it gets your phonenumber!

You can however dial up to a regular internetaccount with any ISP, but you'll first will have to call 1175 and ask them to allow datacalls. You will be billed 3 Baht/min for the phonebill, and you'll have to pay for your ISP. And it only works with post paid packages, one2call does not allow datacalls!

This was one of the reasons for me to move up to a postpaid package, since I wanted to be able to do datacalls and dial in to my homepc directly(using pcanywhere)...

  • 1 year later...

Now you can make data calls using one2call.

The number is *99***1# for an internet connection.

It is quite legal.

You do need to telephone AIS call center on 1175 and tell them what you are doing.

The cost is one Baht per minute.

There is a promotion of 32 Baht for 4 1/2 hours.

Of course you also need some way to connect your telephone to your computer

like bluetooth or a usb cable.

It works.

Anybody know how to do a wap connection on one2call?

Or do you have to subscribe to a monthly plan of 350 baht?
