Has anyone gone to Hong Kong recently and applied for a tourist visa? I heard that it wasn't so good a few years ago, but haven't heard anything current. I am curious to experience the city and I found a ticket at a good price, but I wouldn't want to go if I can not be sure that I would be able to get a visa. If you have gotten a visa there, any other details about your trip you could share would also be appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you, David. That website was informative for obtaining a visa to visit Hong Kong, but it doesn't answer the question of whether I will be able to obtain a Thailand tourist visa at the Thai embassy there. I didn't mention in my previous post that I am American.

If you are from the US why do you need a visa for HK or for Thailand? You can get into HK but you will need a visa if you want to visit China which is around HK$750.For info about HK check out the HK Tourism Board http://www.hkta.org/login.html has lots of useful maps and information with links for embassy sites.

Have a good trip.

Think this is a question about get a Thai Tourist visa at the HK consulate

Single entry tourist visa is no problem for US Cirizen in HK. I did it about 18 months ago. Not sure about double or triple entry.

If your trip is mainly for a visa make sure that the consulate will be open. You will have to drop off the application one day and pick it up the next (unless things have changed). Don't trust info from their website. When I checked their holiday schedule before my trip the web site hadn't been updated in two or three years.

Make sure you have your application complete, photos, and passport copies (including HK entry stamp page) befor showing up. To get a copy made you had to go to another building to find a copier, none in the building the consulate is in. And go early to beat the rush.

I got my second tourist visa last October '07 in HK. It was painless. I dropped it off before lunch on a Thursday and picked it up before lunch the next Monday (Friday was a HK public holiday). I didn't even know that people had problems getting TVs there because it went smoothly. I agree with the copier issue, though. The consulate had their own copier, but they weren't too keen on letting other people use it, so I had to go to the building next door (Lippo Centre) for a copier. It was a pleasant enough walk on a covered pathway, and I ended up having some fabulous cheesecake. :o

Anyhow, good luck and let us know how it turns out. It's always nice to be updated on what the consulates are up to. :D
