My rotti has taken to licking the soil in my plant pots, any ideas as to what she is lacking that causes this need?

are u using manure as fertilizer? they love that...

pica (eating stuff with calcium) is pretty rare nowadays with most animals and well fed people....

but eating soil is also a habit that develops, like shit eating or crunching rocks (things that dogs do)...

just guess though?
