Hi Guys

Filled the land up was OK and hope you enjoy the post.

We are now looking to build a wall around the property after the land has settled and after next rainy season so plenty of time.

One part of the land already has a nice wall on it and its 2meters high.

Anyone know how much to estimate for materials and labour to build the following.

Our plan is to buy the materials and employ to build and pay by the section of every 10 meters finished.

The length of wall will be 250 meters and 2 meters high.

Basic Specification

We want block wall 3/4 height with English size brick on top about 5 rows i have found these at 4 baht a Brick. Concrete posts poured around blocks and top bricks with square capping on top and where blocks meet bricks.

Post hole dug to 60cm approx 50cm square. Every 2.5 meters length of wall

Rebar centred in post hole. Upright section guage 3 hun welded square with 2 hun guage every 50cm.

Fill post hole footing with concrete to half level with 40cm wooden frame to hold rebar in place.

Make a straight base footing wooden frame at 10cm just under land level 10cm wide by 25cm high and fit vertical rebar same spec as post rebar.

Cement in place blocks 6 high up to rebar posts these to be in centre of straigh footing so later on posts show each side of the wall for design effect. 40cm rebar to laid on the block every 2 rows to hold and go through centre of rebar posts.

Wooden frame fitted to make post to 2 meters high pour concrete to make posts.

Hope this is enough for some of your thoughts.

Wifes learning massage, i know its not relevant but just wanted to share it with you guys.

I am just starting to build a house and like you are looking around for wall quotes.

The guy who is building our house has 'guesstimated' at around 1400Bht per metre(labour and material) for a 2 metre wall to include footings 1 metre deep and 1 metre across.

Whether this is over specced I am not sure but he is wifeys uncle and been a builder all his life.

Our wall will be 'simpler' than yours as it will be purely block and reinforced concrete construction.

My wall is 2.1mtrs high around 2 1/2 rai it cost 462,000 baht two years ago, sow poons every three meters with a cast beam at ground level and one at the top, then filled with cinder block and rendered. It's still standing tall and straight and has since had another 1 meter of air blocks added on top, soley to keep our cats in the garden. :o Didn't work though as we are always bringing them back from outside.

Thanks for the sound advise.

We recon on 400,000 to build the wall, but as you will read in the land fill it cost us nearly double what we first thought.

It was a good job done on the land fill and it was worth it.

We just want to be on the nail this time for the wall, no suprises.

Any one have any advise how much to pay labour per meter or per span of 2.5 meters amd how much time for each meter.

We think we have found a good man for the job work looks good but we shying away from talking cost until we can get more information.

Keep it comming thanks.

Price in Pattaya is 1700 baht a meter at this time for cast beam on the ground and one at the top with sow poons every 3 mtrs. So 1400 baht sounds good but 1 mtr deep and 1 mtr across would seem to be over engineered for a 2 mtr high wall, maybe the ground is soft or you are building on the edge of a fill.

We put up a two meter high block wall with a steel reinforced footer and cap on top. Three years ago the labor was 130 baht per linear meter. That does NOT include finish rendering. My wife insisted on us buying all the material ourselves. You can figure out the material cost yourself easily enough. I don't remember. About 230 linear meters plus two rolling gates total. The wall has cracked in several places but not badly. The front 40 meters supported fill so it has a larger wider footer plus double blocks to about a foot above inside ground level.
