I guess I have to question why the policeman did not see the bus coming...That booth sets up and has a great view of the whole intersection..And a bus is a big thing to miss...I would not want to speculate that he distracted from his duties of traffic control...

Of all the buses I have ever been on most drivers were on the Grand prix circuit. However there is one driver that stands out as an excellent driver. He drive bus 16 and is simply great I have been on his bus several times and if you are drinking coffee you would not spill a drop on his bus. I don’t know his name but he is prematurely grey, but driving in Bangkok daily for a living I can understand why.

Congratulations! Whenever I have to stand in a bus I feel like my arms are being torn from their sockets every time the driver brakes. However, there was once a female driver who was really good. She drove well AND BROUGHT THE BUS TO A FULL HALT AT EVERY STOP! I wanted to propose her for a medal, but now I see she is not the only one...

Dozing off usually involves closing one's eyelids. :D

I had an encounter this week with yet another nutter of a bus driver.

He was in the slow lane, I was in the middle lane, Sukhumvit between Chonburi and Si Racha, he wanted our lane because his was too slow so kept pushing me to the outer right lane without a care even though it was also filled with other vehicles, nowhere to go but to accelerate into the tight spot ahead to avoid him touching us, we sat side by side. I accelerated, he pulled behind me, rolled down my window and gave the finger like I've never done in my entire life. F$#^ parasitic moron got so pissed off he chased me all the way down to Si Racha, endangering his passengers and a whole series of cars he cut off and and bullied around while flicking his headlights like he was having an epileptic fit.

At the Si Racha lights, he opened his side window and showed a fist, trying to save face in front of his passengers. F#$% face! Swallow your embarassment in public caused by your own caveman behaviour and stop behaving like parasites and viruses on the roads. Had he come over for a fight I would have gladly added more numbness into his skull and driven off. :o

Some posts are really funny!

I am sure he saw the bus coming before being hit. So?

I think we need to take it a little easy on the policeman--and I hope he recovers. Seeing a bus coming at you and doing something in time are two different things. It takes some time to comprehend that it is really coming at you and isn't going to stop!

Out of curiousity, did the driver flee? Was anyone else injured?

Yes, I've heard of Karma, I just don't get the connection. Of course there are a lot of connections I don't get! My New Years resolution was to try to be nicer to people. I haven't been able to accomplish that yet, but I am having pretty good luck with being nicer on Thaivisa!

(Don't worry it won't last long).

The truly ignorant antics of these drivers that I have witnessed are innumerable.

On one occasion I have reprimanded one in thai, something like " hey buddy, you know you're not in your car now, theres a whole bunch of other people on here with you as well". Unfortunately he was more surprised that I spoke thai. On another occasion one of the non-airconditioned buses i was on, jamming gears with a cocky flourish of his hand and seemingly undecided as to wether he was stopping or not at the bus stop, did slow long enough for an unlucky young girl to leap on then get jammed in the doors as the neanderthal shut them without looking back.

Myself and another elderly gentleman at the back of the bus had to scream for him to stop and open the doors so she could crawl up the stairs so that the ticket collector could come down and soothe her with a phrase we all know and love " ah...Mai Pen Rai na ".

And if nobody has the balls to speak out against this kind of idiocy ( and they don't; Kraeng JAi they say ) then people will continued to be injured and maimed.
