January 15, 200818 yr For some reason the topic long overstay has been locked Hmmm Anyway just an updade on my situation, Visa now sorted back in the Thailand and heading home soon. Just like to say thanks to everone that gave me usfull advice and to all the others who seem to think this forum is there just so they can show all how perfect they are Barr humbug. Thanks
January 15, 200818 yr I'm glad you got sorted and a visa was forthcoming, PLEASE don't do it again The subject of overstay always invokes two camps, those who think it's OK and those who get out the gallows. Personally I don't believe there are any real excuses for overstaying, that said, like debt, it can rapidly become a viscous circle :- (1) shortage of cash prevents visa run => overstay => greater cash requirement => goto (1) Before you know it, you're on 6 months overstay and terrified of the consequences of giving yourself up to immigration. IMHO (and as you have discovered) sorting the issue out under your own steam is far preferable to the results of getting caught. Unfortunately, large numbers of overstayers can only result in the tightening of visa and visa-exemption rules, which will, in turn, probably result in more overstayers. Another viscous circle Edited January 15, 200818 yr by Crossy "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

January 16, 200818 yr .....that said, like debt, it can rapidly become a viscous circle :- Obviously the Language Police are not reading this thread. I really meant "vicious circle", engage brain and realise just using the spell-check is not always enough "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
