Does anyone know what the requirements are or how to go about bringing a maid in from Indonesia? I work in Bangkok and have visa's and work permits myself and am American. Thanks for any help.

Jeez Tray ... I think you'd be very lucky to get same unless you have B I G friends in high places. That would be taking a job away from a Thai.

She would a nanny and we would still hire a thai, my wife is Indonesian and my kids both speak indonesian and are familiar with her, so we wanted to see if we could bring here from here when we move there next month from Indonesia.

contact our sponsor sunbelt, who can help you with this. They deal regularly with work permits for maids and nannies from the Phillippines etc.

The long and the short of it is, she'll be able to get what amounts a temporary work permit valid for three months, but at the end of the three months, she'll have to leave and re-enter the country via a border run, after which, the temp work permit can be renewed.

The temp work permit comes about due to the fact that she'll unlikely earn enough to have immigration give her yearly stays (each nationality has a minimum salary they must earn to have their stays extended).

It would depend on where you are located - but there are all inclusive organized daily runs from Bangkok for about 2,000 baht.
