I read that Bangkok Dangerous remake was supposed to hit theaters in February but I haven't seen any commercials and can't find any trailers online aside from this website that mentions the release date as February 17 in USA. Anybody heard anything about this movie. Is it only going to be in Thai theaters or what?

I am also eargerly awaiting this movies release, as one of my friends is an extra in it. She gets killed by Nicholas Cage!!

I went to go and watch them filming it ages ago in the Witches Tavern on Thong Lor.

Thanks eric. Thats pretty cool ashacat, wish I was there. If anybody else has information about this film please let me know. I hope they didnt decide to scrap it. Thanks.

From the pics in the link it doesn't look like it's a very flattering portrayal of Bangkok. I hope there is more shown than Soi Cowboy, peasant women in rice picker hats, and elephants walking the streets.

Talked to the editor yesterday. Currently on track for an August 08 release date. Has something to do with Cage not able to do publicity for the film until then. This is for the USA, not sure when it will go out to the rest of the world.

Hope this helps.

To be honest, for Thailand the original was a very good movie. Predictable, yes, but good camerawork and intelligently shot (excuse the pun)

I expect the Hollywood version to be a remake with no added value (as usual), but hope to be pleasantly surprised :o

I just finished watching the old version on youtube, it was great. The girl in it is danderously cute, I hope the one in the new version is just as cute.

At first i didnt really like Thai movies, but after watching a few more they do produce some very good movies.

UPDATE....movie to be released in August 2008

Nicolas Cage takes on Thailand in Bangkok Dangerous

It's an English-language remake of a 1999 Thai film of the same name, both directed by the Pang brothers of Hong Kong cinema fame. They made the original The Eye.

Hitman goes to Bangkok, has an existential crisis about his work and goes head to head with corrupt Thai government officials and slimy underworld figures. And of course, he finds the love of a good-hearted native woman.

I like how the main character was changed from being a deaf mute as Nick couldn't have gone through a movie without speaking.

Typical Hollywood...

The original is so charming because the anti-hero is a deaf mute. Sound editing is excellent if the camera takes the position of his point of view.

lol, Cage is a total ham, he couldn't play a convincing corpse. The only reason he got any celluloid time is because of his family. This prat makes Keanu Reeves look like Gielgud.
