Can money from UK, sent stipulating that the money is sent in sterling, be paid into a normal thai account?

or does the thai reciever have to have an account that accepts sterling? Just something my bank confused me with!!

You always want to send Sterling (or other foreign currency) and let the Thai bank convert it on receipt in Thailand/deposit into Thai baht account. Much better exchange rate that way.
