My brother-in-law who is Thai recently died without leaving a will. What happens in these circumstances? Does his wife get everything?

We recently had the same thing with little sister:

If there are no kids, the parents & spouse get 50/50

If the deceased had siblings, they are also entitled to a portion (better ones pass it to the parents)

After that, it starts to get messy.

Probably not applicable in this case but can I assume that it relates only to assets in Thailand ? What happens to foreign assets, say property in the UK ?

My lawyer in the UK advised me to make 1 Will for my UK assets and a separate Will for my Thailand assets.

Dying without a Will is very messy.
