Hi. My partner has a 3-month tourist visa. on the 60days, he got the other 30 days, completing the 90 days or three months. My question is: can he go on a visa run at mae sai and get another 30 days?

and here is the "some" part:

I am here on a non imm B visa. my partner (we are not married) is the one with a tourist visa. philippines, where we are from, is a catholic country and they said i cannot make him my dependent bec we are not married (no marriage certificate). what choices do we have for him to get a longer visa to stay here in thailand? can he get a non imm o (and where) not through or via me but via our kids, who are already enrolled in thailand?

really appreciate your help.

If he has not used his 90 days visa exempt entry during the last six months.

If children have ED visa he could perhaps use section 7.10 as there father to accompany them. It would require 500,000 baht in a Thai bank account for the previous three months to apply.

With copy of birth certificates and there passports with ED visa suspect he can obtain a non immigrant O visa but it may only be single entry.

If he has not used his 90 days visa exempt entry during the last six months. - what do you mean? this is his first three month tourist visa in Thailand, which would be 90 days in Feb 7 2008.

With copy of birth certificates and there passports with ED visa suspect he can obtain a non immigrant O visa but it may only be single entry. - meaning? if he goes out of the country his visa will not be valid anymore and he has to apply for a new one?

and another question, what if i want the kids to be just as my dependent and i home school them? what visa should i get them? do all children have to go on an ED visa? what about home-schooled children?

there are basically two ways to enter thailand. One is on a visa, and the other is on a visa exempt entry. Some countries are allowed 30 days on a visa exempt entry where they do not need a visa. They just show up at the border and they are stamped in for 30 days. There is a limit however of only being in Thailand for 90 days during the previous 6 months using this type of entry. So if you did this 3 times in a row, then you would not be able to do it again for a little over 3 months because you would be going over 90 days in the last 6 months. Again, this 90 days only applies to visa exempt entries, entries using a visa do not count towards this total.

For the visa to accompany your children, one of the requirements is that you have 500,000 baht deposited in a thai bank for 3 months prior to applying for the visa. This is to ensure that you have the funds to be able to support yourself while here. The 3 month in advance rule is basically to make sure that you have it in the bank for at least 3 months, to prevent people from just borrowing it from a friend/loanshark, depositing it, getting the paperwork and withdrawing the money and giving it back.

If he has a single entry visa and leaves the country while it is still valid, he can apply for a re-entry permit to allow him to return using the same visa and he would be able to stay in the country until the original date that he was allowed to stay. Basically, you can leave and come back on the same visa, but the days that you are out of the country still count towards the number of days you are allowed to stay on the visa.

Thanks for the answers.

So, just to clarify: he can go before feb 7 (date of expiry of the 3-month tourist visa) on a visa run at mae sai and get a 30 day extension based on visa exempt?
