When my NON 'O' expires (after 15 month) and I go to the border to do a Visa run and come in on a tourist visa, do I need to have a flight ticket or infromation showing the date I am leaving Thailand?

Thanks in Advance

You do not get a visa at the border so expect you are asking about a visa exempt 30 day stamp and they require confirmed onward ticket within 30 days but are seldom checked, except on the Cambodia border, currently.

Yes sorry, I will get the Visa Exempt 30 day stamp....can you suggest a border where they are not as strict as the cambodian borders

Thanks in advance

Malaysia, Burma, Laos are the three other borders and they do not normally check at those. But any office/officer could ask if they feel the need.

Would it be better if I go to Lao and get the 60 day Visa from the Consulate?

And if I do, Do I need any specific information and do you know the cost of entering Lao and the 60 day Visa cost

Thanks in advance

''Umm, Try Chom Chon at the end of Hwy 214 (Surin) I think that they are happy to see farang there''

Really, I have never heard of this place....is it OK for the 30 Day Exempt Visa?

I did a visa run to Vientiane a few years ago. As I recall, it cost either $30 USD or 1500 baht for a Lao visa. Suggest taking lots of 20 baht notes for taxi and

other incidentals, to avoid getting lots of local currency back as change. All restaurants and taxi accept baht and US dollars. Also suggest staying at Pantawee Hotel in Nong Khai and crossing border in morning, better value at around 700 baht than Vientiane hotels, and all rooms have computer and internet. Must submit visa application before noon and can pick-up the next afternoon. Try the BeerLao, it's good. Also good coffee and French Restaurants, but the town shuts down early.
