Thought this might have been in the News Clippings Sub-Forum.

I remember an American business man told of being kidnapped in Bangkok,by a gang who included Thai cops .They extorted a large sum from him .A search on this forum might bring it up .

As I've said before, I truly think Thailand would be better off without cops :o

I totally agree Phil. What amazes me most about these situations is that there is never an outcry from the Thai people. It's the same when tourists are murdered on quite a regular basis in the main tourist areas. There is never any comment from the Thai authorities like. 'We are killing the tourist trade' or 'we need to sort out the BIB or we will lose tourists'. Why is ther never a reaction? because they know that they can do nothing about it because the police are above the law. What they don't seem to realise is that they will lose everything at the end of the day by taking no action.
