The wife and I are living in Korea now. I promised to buy her a necklace. My gut feeling is that it could be purchased at a better price when we go back to Thailand. I would like to know what is the cost for a baht of gold.

My advice would be to wait and buy in Thailand as you can resell later if needed. The price of gold should go up in long term. Buy ASAP.

Back in 2003 when we got married I think gold was 8000 Bht.

Thats a 75% increase in about 4 and a half years.

Gold's rise hasnt been that spectacular. 75% in four and a half years sounds a lot but break down the figures and it's less than 13% compounded annually. I dont have the figures in front of me but i'd hazard a guess that both shares and property have performed significantly better over the same period.

International price of gold just hit US$910 an ounce for gold bouillon.

What goes up, has to go down.
