His Majesty the King yesterday traveled to meet and receive current Constitutional Monarch of Tonga King George Tupou V. His Majesty King George is visiting the nation on a personal tour.

His Majesty King George’s visit underlines strong relations between Thailand and Tonga which were initiated on July 27th 1994 and have remained stable for 14 years. King George succeeds His Majesty King Taufa’hau IV who reigned in Tonga until 2006.

During the reign of His Majesty King Taufa’hau IV King George traveled to Thailand on diplomatic occasions as well as taking part in the Diamond Jubilee of His Majesty the King. King George’s last personal visit to the Kingdom was on December 9th 2007.
