Featured Replies

Does anyone know if to obtain a marrage visa can you only have 400,000 in the bank or is there the rule that the one who wants the marrage visa can be making up to 40,000 BHT a month can still get one with no problem

I am sure this question has been asked and answered, but i had missed it if so, so i am asking again

thanks in advance for your replies

To extend a Non Imm O Visa for 1 year based on having a Thai Wife you need a monthly income of at least 40,000 Baht a month.

The rule is 40k per month combined income. The source can be husband or wife or both. It can be the applicant or the applicants spouse or part from each.

400k in a bank account is not accepted for new applicants.

Its the tax on 40k they want so it may be possible to pay extra to make it up if you currently earn less than 40k.

Getting a part time job on top of your full time job might cause problems with your work visa, since it is specific to a certain job/company. You could just make up a job and pay taxes on this made up salary, but then again it might cause you problems with your work visa. If you are going to make up income, best to do it for the wife and have her pay the extra taxes since she does not have to deal with the work permit.

The above information is for a one year extension of stay for family and is not for a visa. If you are working you would be expected to have a visa and perhaps you can extend your stay for employment, if not for marriage? The normal visa for those married would be a non immigrant O visa (to visit family) and you obtain them from a Consulate outside of Thailand.
