In a word ....no.

You can cross there but you cannot get a stamp.

Maybe one day in the future when the road between Thailand and Burma is upgraded but not for at least 5 years according to one of the Immigration guys there.

i could be well wrong on this but im sure i remeber reading in one of the travel books that you can do it at the nearest town???

Is that still the case or not?

Not that I'm aware and I had a good chat with a friendly official there, 3 Pagoda.

He said the problem was that there was none of the computer infrastructure there to do all the processing for farang.

It will be upgraded one day in the future but when that is who knows.

Both Burma and Thailand have plans to upgrade the route through 3 Pagoda Pass to a major highway and that is when the Immigration Post will be upgraded as well.

How many years down the road it'll happen not even the Immigration Official knew.

Shame because as I live near Kanchanaburi it would be a most convenient border hop for me too.
