Crapstar has been shut off for the past two days. I think AIS has added EDGE capability here. My N-80 Nokia doesn't tell me if EDGE is working or not but since the connection is quite fast, I would think I am using EDGE. If my GPRS continues to work this well, I won't need anything else. It is faster than TOT Crapstar ever was. :o

Do a speedtest. If at anytime you manage over 100kbps, you're definitely on Edge.

GPRS tops out in a best case scenario where lot's of compression is possible at 60-70kbps

Download Speed: 211 kbps (26.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 28 kbps (3.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm quite pleased with this. I hope it isn't just a fluke.

Definitely Edge! And even at the top of what is possible (238kbps). I average between 80kbps on a very bad day, to around 200 on a good day, mostly around 120 kbps...

15km outside of Pattaya, where a lot of foreigners live unable to get a phone line, so most are using crapstar or GPRS!

Good part is that you have a bit of reserve, regular browsing is still comfortable at 100kbps, so you have quite a bit of spare capacity, before you start banging on your screen again :o

Good news, Gary. And it's nice to hear some after so many cyber horror stories.

I told my wife to tell TOT Crapstar that unless they want me to use their satellite dish as a bird bath, to come and get it. What a happy day it was when I found out EDGE works great.
