Tv, Border Run And Then Leaving Then Coming Back

Featured Replies

My friend's confused and asked me to ask the forum. The scenario:

entered thailand 10 November 2007 - was on a three month tourist visa - finished on 7 Feb 2008

Did border run, Mae Sai, on Feb 3 on visa exempt - allowed to stay until March 3

Needs to stay until March 14, so will do another visa run on Feb 29 or thereabouts.

Will leave Thailand to home country Philippines on March 14.

Coming back to Thailand on April 1 or thereabouts.

Question:

1. Can she arrive on visa exempt on April 1?

2. how many runs will she be allowed from April 1?

any help is greatly appreciated

1. Yes - as she will have used only about 42 days of the allowed 90 days starting from Feb 3.

2. Runs are not counted - only days count - not more than 90 days in the six month period starting Feb 3.

Great help! thanks Lopburi. The next question would be,

1. when her 90 days is finished in may what would you advise her to do, to stay longer in thailand?

2. When is the "have to stay for 90 days out of thailand" applicable? Is there such a rule?

1. She will need a visa - and she should obtain that before using all her visa exempt entry days. Currently Vientiane is providing two entry tourist visas for most applicants.

2. There is no requirement to stay out of country 90 days - you will not receive visa exempt entry after 90 days in country and that clock only resets six months after initial entry/use of visa exempt entry. You can always enter if you have a visa.
